So why not be inspired by this guide to staying at one of Kent’s premier hotels? We do have late availability for this August and September, but you must get in touch soon to book!

Welcome to Hythe

The word ‘Hythe’ means ‘Haven’ in Old English. As a beautiful old village set right on the coast, it’s easy to see why!

This historic town is known as one of the Cinque Ports (pronounced ‘sink ports’). These towns have royal connections dating back to the reign of Edward the Confessor.

Hythe is also the gateway to many of the best attractions here in the Garden of England. Close by you’ll find the unique Romney Marsh, along with must-visit towns such as Folkestone and Canterbury.

It’s the perfect place to enjoy your summer staycation in Kent.

Beaches… and countryside

The 4-star independently owned Hythe Imperial Hotel has a prime Kent coastal location. The historic building is surrounded by 44 acres of gardens, while the front of the hotel sits directly on the beach. There is also a long promenade, perfect for walking and enjoying the summer sea air.

But just behind the coast, you’ll find miles of green English countryside. It really is the best of both worlds!

Stay with us and you’ll find so many things to do. The famous Port Lympne Safari Park is on our doorstep, along with the Rare Breeds Centre. Plus a choice of castles, museums, galleries and so much more.

Finally, for city attractions and shopping, you’re spoilt for choice in this region too.

The historic and beautiful city of Canterbury is a 25-minute drive away. While Ashford is even closer, and home to world-class shopping at the McArthur Glen Ashford Designer Outlet, with over 100 designer stores.

Fine dining by the ocean

In recent years, this corner of Kent has become a real foodie destination, with a huge range of acclaimed restaurants nearby.

And our hotel is perfectly placed to enjoy the food scene, whatever your culinary tastes.

There is a Michelin-starred restaurant in the nearby village of Saltwood, plus a range of award-winning outlets at the popular Harbour Arm in Folkestone. The choice there ranges from Argentinian and pizza to Thai and Mexican street food.

Of course, being so close to the ocean also means fish and seafood are always a popular choice. Something that is perfectly showcased at the Hythe Imperial’s very own restaurant.

Located within the hotel, the Coast restaurant offers fine dining, with modern British dishes created with locally-sourced ingredients that reflect the seasons. It’s been awarded an AA rosette, along with a Taste of Kent award from the Visit Kent Tourism Awards.

You must join us and dine here at least once or twice during your stay at the Hythe Imperial. If you stay over on a Sunday, make sure you enjoy our famous Sunday roast!

Bars, spas and pars!

Our hotel has a choice of bars that you can enjoy during your coastal summer break.

The standout has to be our very own Moet & Chandon champagne bar, the only one on the south coast. The other one is at Harrods in London!

It’s the perfect place to sip a chilled glass of bubbly while watching the ocean lapping the coast.

Other diversions you can look forward to during your stay include our luxurious pool, Jacuzzi, sauna and steam rooms in the hotel spa. Or treat yourself to a delicious afternoon tea in our tea parlour or outside under the gazebos overlooking the hotel gardens.

Keen golfers will also love our hotel, as we have our very own 18-hole golf course with 13 greens. Perfect for pairing a hotel stay with some rounds of golf.

Choosing your hotel room

The accommodation at the Hythe Imperial Hotel has been recently refurbished, with 92 bedrooms across a range of grades.

As a Victorian building, each bedroom is unique, with no two being the same, all as individual as the guests who come to stay with us. They range from intimate and cosy, to spacious and decadent, sea view or garden view. Even cottage-style suites and family rooms with a separate sleeping area for the children.

All rooms are well appointed, and decorated in a contemporary style with all modern comforts.

Wi-Fi is also available free of charge throughout the hotel for all guests.
