Hythe Imperial Hotel – supporting its community during COVID19.

In response to the news that people aren’t always able to find the food they need at the moment, we will be donating our surplus supplies to local people. Our Chairman Darrell Healey and Managing Director Nick Gauntlett are inviting people to ask for our help if they need it.

Email us what’s needed and we will let you know what we can deliver to your door, without any charge.

We are also looking to support the blue light workers (NHS staff, Firefighters & Police) in our community as well as care workers, nurses and social workers who are working flat out during this pandemic and looking after our loved ones and neighbours. We are looking to put together some vegetable boxes as we understand that when you finish your shift, there isn’t much left in the supermarkets for you.

We will also have tea & coffee plus sandwiches made to order for takeaway in the hotel for any police officers on patrol and ambulance operatives, to come in and grab a refreshment to help them on their way.

Mr Gauntlett said: “The Hythe Imperial Hotel has sat in this community for many years and always been supported by it – we can now repay that a little with this gesture. “The hospitality industry has been affected by the pandemic and so naturally, we have food supplies that we can share locally to help with this massive national effort to look after one another. Please do contact us and we will do what we can to help you.”

It is also our understanding that a Community Hub is being set up by the District Council and we will be looking to work closely with them and to support them in whatever way we can, but in the meantime, we have supplies that can be distributed locally.

There is no cost to the public whatsoever for what we are offering and we would ask that you let as many people as you can know, so we can reach and help as many people as possible. We just ask that you be honest and only request what you need, so that we can supply as many people as stocks allow.

Please email your list to marketing@hytheimperialhotel.com or telephone 01303 267441 and speak to Adama.

If there are any other members of the public you feel we should be helping, please let us know.

Feedback from those we have managed to help so far:

“My dad has just called – he is so chuffed. Thank you so much for doing what you have done, we both really appreciate it so much.” Dave B (food delivered to his 91 year old dad)

“I am an employee of the NHS (Kent Community Health NHS Foundation Trust) and I would like to thank you, on behalf of all my colleagues, from the bottom of our hearts for such a kind gesture. It is with offers like this that the nurses working hard on the frontline and the support services keeping patients safe, will get through the next few weeks/months. It’s hard for everyone but made so much more difficult by others hoarding and stripping the shelves bare before we’ve even finished work. I have all I need at the moment for my family so I won’t be making a request now but maybe in a few days I may need some eggs, ham or potatoes (which can all be used for any meal with some creativity?). Together we can get through this, so once again thank you.” Debbie H

Big shout out to @hytheimperial and Adama, their marketing manager who have seriously done their bit for the community today. Because of the government restrictions they have had to close their restaurants and are giving away their food stocks so they don’t go to waste, to NHS employees and older people self-isolating. I asked for a couple of bits and also organised for my mum and aunt to receive some too. And oh my did they deliver. I am overwhelmed with gratitude and their incredible community spirit. I will be sharing my delivery with other family members self-isolating. Hythe Imperial you are amazing! When things get back to normal we will be back to support you too ?” Debbie H
