Celebrity inspo for your big day

Many brides love the thought of wedding dress shopping – but for others, it can induce no end of panic. Then there’s the theme, the food and the venue! It can all be very overwhelming!

Instagram and Pinterest are both great for wedding planning inspiration. Need another great source?  How about Celebrities?

The pandemic has meant that there have been fewer celebrity nuptials than in previous years but there are still some great events to look to for inspiration.

Paris Hilton and Carter Reum

When Paris married her venture capitalist beau in November, there was never any doubt that it would be extravagant. Paris wore no fewer than 11 gowns in a three-day event which took place in her family’s $65millon estate. So, we may not have Paris Hilton’s multi-million-dollar budget, but we can still copy some aspects of her big day(s)!

A hotel wedding offers the perfect opportunity to make your wedding last more than a single day; why not gather friends and family for a meal the night before, or a send-off dinner or lunch afterwards? A house-party style wedding can ensure that everyone gets involved in the proceedings and create a wedding event to remember.

James Middleton and Alizée Thevenet

James Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge’s younger brother, married on the Côte d’Azur and the bride wore vintage. Of course, it wasn’t just any old vintage gown, Alizée wore the dress her mother-in-law donned for her own big day back in the 80s.  A wedding dress is generally only worn once, so it is not the most sustainable choice for the environmentally conscious bride.

One solution could be to source a pre-loved vintage gown. There are many charity shops which offer a range of wedding and bridesmaid dresses, as well as a number of online options. A good dressmaker can make any necessary adjustments, and not only will a second-hand option help reduce your impact on the planet, but it will also undoubtedly save you a significant amount of money.

Boris Johnson and Carrie Symonds

Boris Johnson’s wedding to Carrie Symonds made him the first PM to marry in office for almost 200 years. Another ethically minded bride, Carrie rented her £3k dress for what is thought to be less than £50 a day. More and more brides are rejecting something new and opting for something borrowed, and the rental option gives you the option of a dress that might otherwise be completely out of budget, as well as being a far more sustainable option.

Boris and Carrie opted for a festival theme for their Downing Street reception; bunting in recycled fabrics and plenty of flowers and greenery brought the countryside to this prime central London address.

Jason Gotay and Michael Hartung

The Gossip Girl star married his long-term love in a small ceremony in New York in November. We’ve written before about LGBT weddings – and the etiquette that’s in play – and think it is so important that couples focus on what makes them happy, above all else.

Jason and Michael gave their big day a monochrome theme, with Dr Marten trainers and ivory suits to “reference the traditional colour worn by a bride.”

At the Hythe Imperial located right on the coast in Kent, in Hythe and close to the towns of Folkestone, Ashford and Canterbury, we believe all our couples should be able to have their wedding their way.
